Types of Stringing Machines
Stringing machines are generally divided into manual and electronic stringing machines. Manual stringing machines work without a power supply, while electronic stringing machines use motorised tensioning.
Manual Stringing Machines
Manual stringing machines mainly include drop weight stringing machines and crank stringing machines. Drop weight machines use a weight-based lever system, while crank machines use a mechanical crank tensioner. Key advantages include their comparatively cost-effective design and mains-independent operation, allowing flexible use in different settings.
Electronic Stringing Machines
Electronic stringing machines work with motorised tensioning. In terms of the pulling system, a basic distinction is made between linear pull and rotary pull. With linear pull, the string is tensioned in a straight line, while rotary pull uses a rotating tensioning mechanism.
This should be distinguished from tension regulation: many high-quality electronic stringing machines use constant pull. This means that the selected tension is continuously monitored during the pulling process and automatically readjusted if required. Depending on the model, further functions may include pre-stretch, knot function, adjustable pulling speeds or memory settings for different string tensions.
Tabletop Stringing Machines and Stringing Machines with Stand
Tabletop stringing machines are compact models designed for use on a suitable work surface. They are particularly suitable for mobile use, smaller spaces or users who want to store the machine away when needed. Stringing machines with stand have a stable base, which may optionally be equipped with wheels depending on the model. They generally offer greater stability and comfort during longer stringing sessions, making them especially suitable for regular use in clubs, tennis schools or professional environments.
Stringing Machines for Tennis, Badminton and Squash
Many stringing machines are suitable for tennis rackets, badminton rackets and squash rackets. The relevant product description is decisive, especially with regard to mounting supports, tension range and suitable racket types.
